Trex® materials come with specific warranties, but it doesn’t mean they won’t last longer. When Trex launched its original product in 1998 it came with a 10-year warranty. This product is still installed in many homes and looks great after more than 25 years.
There have been many improvements in their current products and their material now is a coextruded shell that protects the board from the weather, making them last even longer than their early materials.
Trex® does not recommend installing the boards on a solid surface. The recommended substructure/framing materials are pressure treated lumber or steel. Placing the boards on a solid surface does not allow for proper drainage and airflow, which is important to insure the optimal life-span of the product.
